Graduated from Decatur Community High School - Oberlin, KS - 1978
Bachelor of Music Education - Wichita State University - 1982
I received a Bachelor of Music Education from Wichita State University, with an emphasis in Piano. I also concentrated on Voice, Choir, and Choral Conducting.
I am proud to be a Permanent Master Teacher through the Music Educators National Conference. I have been a member of MENC and KMTA/KMEA (Kansas Music Educators) for over 30 years!
In the summer of 2014, I performed with the Wichita State University Summer Choir under the direction of Dr. Tom Wine. This turned out to be an enjoyable experience, being a choir member instead of the director. With over 100 singers, I had the opportunity to polish my conducting skills, work with exceptional singers and became acquainted with some of the Wichita choral community.
I first started teaching in the Kingman school district, immediately upon my college graduation, in 1982. After teaching only two years, I decided to stay home and raise my three children. I stayed home till my youngest was seven years old, returning in 2003.
Originally, I taught grades K-5 and accompanied grades 6-8. In 2011, I became the teacher for all grades: K-8.
I have been the Director of Music for the Kingman United Methodist Church since 1982. I direct the Children's Choir, conduct the Chancel Choir and generally supervise the music of KUMC's worship services.
I have been thrilled to be a part of a vocal trio, Gracenotes. With Cindy Baker and Gayle Hamblin, we rehearse weekly. Gracenotes performs mostly in the Kingman area. We have performed Gospel, 40's style, Valentine's Day and Christmas programs.
I met Lance Dixon, a Kingman native, at Wichita State University on the day I moved onto campus. We were married in the summer of 1981.
We have three children, all three graduating from Kingman High School.

There are times I take a break from my music world! Most of the time, you can find me with a book in my hand. Actually, my books may be hardbooks or paperbacks, audiobooks on my phone or on my Kindle.
I am active in my local P.E.O. chapter and the United Methodist Women's organization. I also love to spend time with my kids!
