Rita Gritmacker

Welcome to Ms. Gritmacker's 5th Grade!

Open house is Tuesday, August 18th, from 5:00-6:30.  Bring your supplies to put away and be ready for school to start Wednesday morning.  I'm excited to see you all!

Here are some skills for success in our class:

  • Smile
  • Be Respectful
  • Be Prepared
  • Listen
  • Ask Questions
  • Hand in Homework on Time
  • Find Humor Every Day
  • READ, READ, READ  at home for 20 minutes, EVERY DAY!

We have homework every day. I  give kids enough time in class to get regular work done but if it's not completed, then they will have that in addition to these three assignments:

  1. Read for 20 minutes, more if you like.
  2. Practice math facts.
  3. Practice spelling words.

Students may bring a healthy snack every day to eat in the morning.  Some examples:  fruit, breakfast bars, veggies, granola, yogurt (gogurt), peanut butter and celery.  Something with protein to help their brains keep on working is helpful.

If you have questions or comments, please e-mail me at or call the school office at 620 532-3186 and leave a message.  I will get back to you as soon as I can.  Email is quicker:-). Thanks.
