Leadership Team

Leadership Team

What is Leadership Team?  Leadership Team is a group of 12-15 students who work together to promote KMS P.R.I.D.E.!  Leadership Team activities include planning and executing Red Ribbon Week, Anti-Bullying Week, the annual canned food drive, and welcoming new students to our school, as well as various other activities and fundraisers throughout the year.

To apply for Leadership Team:

You must type an essay on Google Docs explaining why you would be a good candidate for Leadership Team.

  • standard Arial 11 pt. Use the font in black.
  • Share the Google doc with Mrs. Clover (kclover@knusd331.comby September 6, 2017.
  • In your essay, be sure to include the following:
    • What you think it means to be a leader & what leadership qualities you believe that you possess
    • Ideas that you have for Leadership Team activities or ways in which you would like to improve our school
    • Other clubs, teams, or organizations of which you have been a part, including any leadership positions you have held
    • Why you believe that you would be a valuable member of the KMS Leadership Team

There is no minimum length requirement for the essay, but be sure that you thoroughly cover all of the information.  Essays must be written by the student, in the student’s own words.  If you have applied for Leadership Team in the past, please do not recycle your essay from a previous year.  I keep all copies of previously submitted essays.  Resubmitting an old essay does not show commitment or dedication to this cause.

A panel of teachers will read each applicant’s essay and assign a score of up to 10 points.   A list of applicants will be given to each KMS teacher.  Teachers will then select from that list the four candidates from each grade whom they feel most show the qualities of a leader. Voting totals will be added to the essay scores.  The applicants from each grade with the highest score will be named to this year’s Leadership Team.

Deadline to apply: All essays must be received by 3:30 pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Clover.
